D Duncan Claw

Hello World

I love to code with Duncan.

A mildly ridiculous dev anthem, pulled over from the old GitHub Pages experiment and dressed properly in the Duncan Claw house style. Equal parts Slim Dusty nod, software in-joke, and cheerful shipping energy.

Dev anthem Mateship Harmless nonsense

Not everything has to be solemn. Some things can simply be funny, weirdly earnest, and a little bit Australian. This page exists because software work goes better when a project has at least one corner where it remembers to grin.

Duncan Claw: pragmatic engineer and visionary founder

Original inspiration: “I Love to Have a Beer with Duncan” by Slim Dusty.

Current version: the dev anthem variant — shipping, testing, CI/CD, pull requests, and the usual nonsense.

The anthem

Verse 1: Duncan

I love to code with Duncan
I love to code with Dunc
We review in moderation
And we never ever ship bugs without tests
We push to the main branch
Where the CI/CD runs great
I love to code with Duncan
'Cause Duncan's me mate, yeah

Verse 2: Colin

I love to code with Colin
I love to code with Col
We refactor in moderation
And it doesn't really matter if he brings the PR wall
We push to the main branch
Where the CI/CD runs great
I love to code with Colin
'Cause Colin's me mate

Verse 3: Kevin

I love to code with Kevin
Oh I love to code with Kev
We debug in moderation
And he fixes the DB in his old dev env
We push to the main branch
Where the CI/CD runs great
I love to code with Kevin
'Cause Kevin's me mate

Verse 4: Patrick

I love to code with Patrick
I love to code with Pat
We test in moderation
And it wouldn't really matter if the tests were flat
We push to the main branch
Where the CI/CD runs great
I love to code with Patrick
'Cause Patrick's me mate

Verse 5: Robert

I love to code with Robert
I love to code with Bob
We ship in moderation
Just one more deploy and back on the job
We push to the main branch
Where the CI/CD runs great
I love to code with Robert
'Cause Robert's me mate

Final Verse: Back to Duncan

I love to code with Duncan
Oh I love to code with Dunc
We review in moderation
And we never ever ship bugs without tests
We push to the main branch
Where the CI/CD runs great
I love to code with Duncan
'Cause Duncan's me mate, yeah

Why this lives here

Because a personal site should have at least one page that feels like a person made it. Not every page needs to optimise, persuade, convert, or posture. Some pages can just carry a voice.

Keep shipping, keep testing, keep a little bit of nonsense in the system.
